The Technical Meeting on Educational Networks, organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), was held at the Vienna International Center (Vienna, Austria) from July 1 to 5, 2019.
Over 50 representatives of various specialized organizations from 30 countries of the world participated in the meeting. All of them are interested in training in nuclear technology and the peaceful use of atomic energy. Among the participating countries are Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Austria, Japan, Egypt, Argentina, Kenya and others.
The following representatives of the regional nuclear technology-training network STAR-net participated:
- Andrei Kosilov, Executive Director of STAR-net (Professor, NRNU MEPhI);
- Andrei Timoshchenko, Head of the Department of Nuclear Physics, Belarusian State University;
- Mikolaj Oettingen, Associate Professor, Department of Nuclear Energy, AGH University of Science and Technology (Krakow, Poland)
In April 2019, the EKSTU joined the STAR-net regional network and got the opportunity to also participate in the Technical Meeting in order to highlight activities in the field of training for the nuclear industry of the region and the republic, make suggestions on the development of cooperation in the direction of training specialists in the field of nuclear technology.
The most important motive is the collaboration and development of new approaches in the training of qualified personnel. The established educational networks in the field of nuclear technology with the support of the IAEA can make a significant contribution to the improvement of these directions.
The meeting examined recommendations of the expert groups in the areas of educational networks, creating a single hub on an e-platform, and managing and disseminating knowledge about nuclear technologies.
One of the most important points is, of course, the expansion and strengthening of interaction and cooperation between countries and organizations that participated in the meeting.
Participation of our university in this meeting is the result of the systematic development of the area for the nuclear industry training, which is in demand in our region.
