Last year, the D. Serikbayev EKSTU Dinitiated the project "Altai - the cradle of Turkic civilization". One of the points of this project is the work on introducing archaeological monuments of the East Kazakhstan region into the heritage of humanity of UNESCO.

Together with the R.B. Suleymenov Institute of Oriental Studies, the university organized an international expedition to Altai by attracting UNESCO experts.

Firstly, the delegation was made of researchers from France, Belgium, Japan, Russia and Kazakhstan was acquainted with the archaeological site of Akbaur. The discovery of a settlement here by the famous archaeologist Zeynolla Samashev is of great importance because the settled Sakas settlements in Kazakhstan have been studied little, and this is a first such discovery on the east of the country.

A great excursion into history took place in the Valley of the Kings - Berel. The historical and cultural complex "Altai-the cradle of Turkic civilization" gained worldwide fame thanks to the burial places of nomad nobility and highly artistic items in the Scythian-Siberian animal style.

- "The highest manufacturing technology, the original interpretation of the image and the choice of colors are amazing", said Anna-Marie Vilmeno, professor at the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium.

The Berel necropolis allowed the whole world to see the vibrant culture of the era of ancient horsemanship. And it is still open to study. The expedition participants raised the issue of making the monument a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The value of archaeological excavations in the Valley of the Kings should be known to the world scientific community. After the expedition, a round table was held in the conference hall of EKSTU, where scientists shared their impressions and made presentations.

Currently, 5 items are on the UNESCO World Heritage List in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
