From 18 to 20 November 2025, representatives of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) took part in the European Raw Materials Week 2025 - a key annual event of the European Commission dedicated to the strategic development of Critical Raw Materials (CRM). The event brought together leading research centers, industrial companies, consortia, and expert organizations from EU member states, providing a platform for discussing sustainable, innovative, and technology-oriented solutions in the CRM sector. In 2025, EKTU also successfully submitted several proposals to the Horizon Europe programme, including two projects focused on titanium, beryllium, and graphite.

The participation of EKTU representatives was aimed at expanding international cooperation in areas related to critical materials and EU research initiatives. The programme included thematic sessions, expert panels, and meetings with European partners addressing sustainable value chains, resource security, and new opportunities for joining Horizon Europe consortia. Discussions of ongoing project proposals and engagements with potential partners strengthened EKTU's position within the international research network and expanded the potential for future collaborations.

During the European Raw Materials Week, EKTU representatives held a series of working consultations with members of European research clusters and professional associations. These meetings contributed to reinforcing existing professional ties and opened new directions for scientific collaboration in the field of Critical Raw Materials, including component technology research, the development of innovative processing methods, and participation in multi-level international projects.

EKTU's participation in the European Raw Materials Week 2025 marks an important step in advancing Kazakhstan's national engineering school and strengthening the country's scientific competencies on the international stage. The University remains committed to developing resilient, innovative, and competitive value chains for Critical Raw Materials in partnership with European institutions, contributing to technological progress, scientific cooperation, and the global competitiveness of the region.
