D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University has completed an international academic visit by Professor Nor Hayati Saad of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia.
The visit marked an important stage in the development of cooperation between EKTU and one of Malaysia’s leading universities. The joint programme covered key areas including engineering education, project management, research, academic exchange and the application of artificial intelligence.
Professor Nor Hayati Saad participated in the CDIO Asian Regional Meeting 2026 hosted by EKTU. Her presentation introduced modern approaches to engineering education in the age of artificial intelligence, with particular attention to cooperation among universities, industry and the technology sector.
Project management lectures for EKTU undergraduate and master’s students formed an important part of the academic programme. The classes introduced students to international project practices, contemporary approaches to planning and implementing initiatives, and knowledge relevant to their future professional careers.
Special attention was also given to strengthening the research competencies of faculty members and early-career researchers. During a seminar on academic publishing, Professor Nor Hayati Saad shared practical recommendations on preparing articles for journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.
Meetings with EKTU researchers focused on opportunities for joint publications and collaborative research projects. One of the areas discussed was economic resilience to the social impacts of artificial intelligence, including the potential development and application of the AIRI index in Kazakhstan.
The academic visit also extended beyond the university. At Nazarbayev Intellectual School, the professor held a career guidance session on choosing a university, field of study and future profession in a world where artificial intelligence is becoming an integral part of education and the labour market.
For EKTU, international academic mobility is not only a means of exchanging experience but also an effective instrument for improving the quality of education and research. The involvement of international professors gives students access to global expertise, enables faculty members to develop professional networks and helps the university create new joint projects and strengthen its integration into the global academic community.
Cooperation between EKTU and Universiti Teknologi MARA creates opportunities to expand academic exchanges, conduct joint research, prepare scientific publications and implement new educational initiatives. The agreements reached provide a foundation for long-term partnership between universities in Kazakhstan and Malaysia.
EKTU expresses its gratitude to Professor Nor Hayati Saad for her productive work, contribution to educational and research exchange, openness to professional dialogue and support for the development of international academic relations.
