On June 19, the results of one of the most cited academic rankings — the QS World University Rankings 2026, were released by the international analytical agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), which specializes in analyzing the global higher education market.
This year, 8,467 universities from 106 countries took part (compared to 5,663 in 2024), and 1,501 universities were included in the ranking of the world’s best (1,503 in 2024).
Twenty Kazakhstani universities entered the ranking this year, including three new institutions – Shakarim University, Kozybayev University, and Yessenov University. Congratulations to them!
EKTU improved its position across all QS WUR indicators. Notably, the university showed significant progress in the following areas:
- Employer reputation – from 7.7 to 18.2;
- Sustainability – from 1.3 to 31;
- Faculty-to-student ratio – from 64.2 to 75.9;
- International faculty ratio – from 14.4 to 23.7.
Despite significantly increased competition, EKTU has maintained strong positions in the ranking for the third year in a row, and continues to hold the 10th place among Kazakhstani universities. In the global ranking, the university was placed in the #1001–1200 range, securing 1018th place. Moreover, EKTU significantly exceeds global median values in terms of faculty-to-student ratio and international faculty presence.
These prestigious rankings reflect EKTU’s high level of education, research, and international cooperation, contribute to its global recognition, enhance the competitiveness of graduates, support participation in global projects, strengthen the university’s image, and contribute to the development of the region and the country.
We congratulate and thank the entire team and our partners for these excellent results and international recognition!
