Project abstract

Concept of digital transformation of Kazakhstan for 2023-2029 is aimed at modernizing the economy, increasing efficiency and introducing innovative technologies in various fields, including transport. The development of an intelligent driver monitoring system fits into these goals, contributing to improving road safety and improving the quality of transport services. The driver's condition monitoring system will contribute to reducing the number of road accidents, which corresponds to the priorities of the state policy in the field of road safety.

According to the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Accounts of the Prosecutor General's Office of the RK, 8,307 road accidents were registered in the country in eight months of 2021, in which 12,205 people were injured. In about 87% of cases, the drivers were responsible for the accident (7,256 cases). In 9 months of 2022, about 10.2 thousand accidents were committed, as a result of which more than 15,000 people were injured, which demonstrates an increase in the number of accidents by 8.9%. In 2023, the number of accidents reached 15,029, and in the first 4 months of 2024, 3,988 accidents were registered.

The relevance of the study is confirmed by the words of the President of Kazakhstan K.J.Tokayev at an expanded government meeting on Feb7, 2024 in Astana that the digitalization of various industries and the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies will help to qualitatively change the situation in the economy of Kazakhstan. Moreover, AI, according to the president, can become «the driving force of economic progress and innovation in the country».
