Foreign language (professional)
Description: The course focuses on the formation of linguistic, discursive and socio-cultural competence of postgraduates, access to the culture of a target language, acquisition of professional speech skills, development of translation skills in a professional sphere. The course includes grammar review, preparation for writing assignments, reading, listening and speaking techniques.

Goal
- The formation of linguistic, discursive and sociocultural competence. The content of linguistic competence includes knowledge of lexical, grammatical and phonological phenomena of the English language and the ability to apply them in communication and professional activity. Discourse competence involves knowledge and the ability to use language tools in communication and professional activities for speaking at international conferences, writing and publishing articles in a foreign language, and conducting business negotiations with foreign partners. The sociocultural component develops intercultural communication skills, taking into account national-cultural specifics and the verbal behavior of native speakers of a foreign language in comparison with the realities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Professional competence is formed in practical classes in accordance with the course objectives.
Objective
- The goal of teaching "Foreign language (professional)" is to improve the communicative and intercultural competence to the level of international standards in various fields of professional and scientific activities. The course objectives: - The formation and development of communicative competence (linguistic, socio-linguistic, socio-cultural, strategic, discursive and pragmatic) necessary for professional activities; - The formation of a sufficient level of proficiency in a professional foreign language for written and oral communication required in scientific activities.
Learning outcome: knowledge and understanding
- Understanding of large complex texts on various subjects; recognition of hidden meanings; - Spontaneous fluent speaking without difficulty with the selection of words and expressions. - Flexible and effective use of language for communication in scientific and professional activities. - The ability to create an accurate, detailed, well-structured message on complex topics demonstrating the knowledge of text organization models, means of communication and text elements combination. - Formation of a knowledge system of national and cultural characteristics and realities of the country which language is being studied; - Knowledge of professional terminology - Understanding of messages in various fields of knowledge and areas of professional communication.
Learning outcome: applying knowledge and understanding
- Application of acquired knowledge when communicating in professional and scientific activities or during a stay in the country of the studied language; in oral and written professional and business communication, when reading special and scientific literature in a foreign language.
Learning outcome: formation of judgments
- The ability to express in detail complex problems in letters, essays, reports highlighting the most important information. The ability to use an appropriate language style.
Learning outcome: communicative abilities
- Possession of a wide range of language tools to express thoughts on a large number of topics (general, professional, everyday) clearly, freely and within the framework of a corresponding style. - Continuous maintenance of a high level of grammatical correctness; Errors are rare, almost imperceptible and are immediately corrected when they appear. - The ability to build a clear, uninterrupted properly organized statements, showing a confident knowledge of organizational structures, use of parts of speech and coherence means.

- Skills in setting intermediate and global goals for learning a foreign language; speech skills (reading, writing, listening, oral communication); skills of organizing independent work when learning a language, search, analysis and synthesis of information in a foreign language
