April 19, 2016 // A roundtable "Dual education in Kazakhstan: experience and perspectives" held in Ust-Kamenogorsk.
The roundtable was organized within the framework of the joint ‘East Kazakhstan Regional Sustainability Project for Workplace Safety and Energy Efficiency Training'.
The project is the part of develoPPP.de program (development of partnerships with the private sector), implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (of GIZ) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, together with the AES Group of companies in Kazakhstan. The project partners are also the East Kazakhstan State Technical University named after Serikbayev, Ust-Kamenogorsk Polytechnic College and local authorities in the East Kazakhstan region.
The participants and speakers of the roundtable included Oleg Gavrilenko, Vice-Rector of East Kazakhstan State Technical University named after Serikbayev; Jörg Pudelka, Head of GIZ office in Kazakhstan; Serhiy Zuyev, Vice President of AES Corporation in Kazakhstan; Rainer Goertz, International consultant on introduction of dual education in Kazakhstan; Roza Kudaibergenova, Head of the Human capital development of the East KazakhstanChamber of Entrepreneurs; Alla Nurseitova, Deputy Head of regional Education Department, as well as representatives of the Technical University and College.
The subject of discussion was the issues around dual education, as well as the participation of AES in the preparation of highly qualified personnel in the energy sector of the region. Opening the roundtable, Serhiy Zuyev mentioned: "We have been cooperating with local technical and vocational educational institutions with the active involvement of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of East Kazakhstan region. This work is effective. At the moment about 25% of the company's staff are graduates of technical and vocational programs. I am confident that our joint project with GIZ will be a key element of the dual education and will play a significant role in the training of young energy professionals, who will continue to work for the benefit of the energy industry not only regionally but also throughout the country."
