On March 7, on the eve of International Women's Day, the Khabar 24 TV channel broadcast a live broadcast of the program "Day Shift". The topic of the pre-holiday issue was Gender Equality in the Labor Market. At the beginning, it was noted that the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, for the first time, established an award for female scientists named after the first female academician of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, Nailya Bazanova.
Among the invited experts was Eleonora Stolyarova, chief researcher at the ISRC "DSR" (time codes 7.12 and 34.15). She noted the difficulties and inaccuracies in understanding the terms "gender equality" and "gender balance", and also expressed her understanding of the role and place of traditions from the point of view of sociological science. In her opinion, the main problem is the contradiction between the recognition of women's rights to professional self-realization in the external economic space, on the one hand, and the requirements to comply with the traditional female role in the family, on the other. This contradiction, which has developed in the public consciousness, is typical for many modern countries and significantly hinders their socio-economic and political development.
The program also featured Sukhrob Khodjimatov, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Kazakhstan, Aliya Sembayeva, Deputy Chairperson of the Board of JSC "Science Fund", Aida Alzhanova, international gender expert.
