Representatives of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University are taking part in the first on-site training programme DIANA Training of Trainers (ToT 1) – Dynamics of Rural Tourism & Teaching Methodologies, which is being held from 29 June to 3 July 2026.
The training is organised within the framework of the international project ERASMUS+ / KA2 / CBHE 101237740 DIANA “Empowering Women through the Development and Implementation of Entrepreneurship in Rural Tourism in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.”
The first ToT programme is aimed at deepening participants’ knowledge of rural tourism dynamics, its impact on local economic development, the formation of tourism value chains, and the development of entrepreneurial initiatives at the local community level. Special attention is given to the practical application of rural tourism concepts in real-life contexts, the analysis of successful case studies, and interaction with local stakeholders and industry practitioners.
During the training, participants address issues related to sustainable and inclusive tourism, the development of women’s entrepreneurship, governance models in rural tourism, as well as the challenges and opportunities associated with promoting tourism initiatives in rural areas.
The programme also includes components of the module on active teaching methodologies and skills development. Participants apply Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Design Thinking approaches through group work, the development of project ideas, learning activities, and practical solutions that can later be adapted and introduced into the educational process of partner universities.
EKTU’s participation in the DIANA ToT programme contributes to strengthening international cooperation, developing the competencies of academic staff in modern educational technologies, and expanding the university’s capacity to support women’s entrepreneurship and the sustainable development of rural areas.
The programme also includes a management meeting of the DIANA project partners. The meeting is focused on monitoring the progress of project implementation, discussing results, quality assurance recommendations, dissemination activities, and the performance of work packages, as well as coordinating upcoming tasks, timelines, and expected outcomes.
The DIANA project is an important initiative aimed at developing women’s entrepreneurial potential, supporting rural tourism, and introducing innovative educational approaches in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
