This spring, an environmental competition for collecting plastic bottles was held at D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University. It concluded on May 31, and the results were announced in time for World Environment Day on June 5.
The winners of the competition were environmentally conscious residents of Ust-Kamenogorsk, as well as students and staff of our university. What's especially inspiring is that their participation was driven not by the pursuit of prizes, but by a sincere desire to make a positive impact on the world around them. Each participant demonstrated that eco-friendly habits are a way of life, not just a temporary trend.
By organizing such events, EKTU actively supports the national environmental project "3.2.1. Start!", aimed at promoting separate plastic collection and engaging youth in sustainable initiatives. It also aligns with the "Taza Kazakhstan" Concept for the Development of Ecological Culture.
This time, six of the most active participants were awarded diplomas and eco-themed gifts, some of which were provided by the "3.2.1. Start!" project. The prizes were aligned with the principles of sustainability: reusable water bottles and flasks, eco-material bags, and a biodegradable plastic cutting board. These are not just gifts - they are symbols of conscious choices and care for the planet's future.
We will continue working not only to reduce plastic waste, but also to encourage citizens to develop a strong and lasting environmental mindset.
Congratulations to all the winners!
