“TAZA IZ”: Leave a Positive Mark on Our Land!

National traditions, respect for nature, and responsibility for the future came together in an environmental initiative organized by the eco-clubs of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) during the “Shygys Salburyny – 2026” event.

The students held the “Taza Iz” (Clean Footprint) campaign, reminding everyone of a simple yet important principle: leave only positive footprints in nature!

The campaign created a special atmosphere of unity between generations. Older participants set an example for young people by demonstrating the importance of caring for nature, while younger participants inspired others with their enthusiasm and sincere desire to make the world a better place. The campaign brought together people of different ages, proving that environmental responsibility has no age limits and that environmental awareness grows through shared values and personal example.

One of the key activities was “Econiyet: One Step for Nature.” Participants wrote their environmental pledges on a commemorative page, choosing a simple action they were willing to make part of their daily lives. Some pledged not to leave litter in nature, others promised to use reusable bottles or cups, save water and electricity, or take part in environmental activities. Each entry became a personal commitment to protecting the environment. After all, great changes begin with small steps, and sincere intentions make a difference when they are followed by real action.

Another highlight was the “Photo for a Clean Nature” activity. Participants placed PET bottles in special eco-boxes for separate collection and took photos with motivational cards. In this way, waste sorting became a visible example of how simple actions by individuals can help promote responsible resource use and a more environmentally conscious attitude.

The campaign concluded with a small clean-up activity, during which students worked together to clean the area around a traditional Kazakh yurt. Through their actions, they demonstrated their commitment to the environmental pledges they had made.

For EKTU’s eco-clubs, environmental initiatives are more than just campaigns. They are an opportunity to promote environmental awareness, strengthen connections between generations, and make responsible environmental habits part of everyday life.

By preserving our national heritage, we also protect the natural environment around us. Let every step we take leave behind not litter, but a positive mark!
