This series of events focuses on developing cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany in the fields of science and education under the theme “Science and Education: The Partnership of Kazakhstan and Germany.”

The main event of the week is the presentation of the Kazakhstan-German Institute of Science and Technology (KNIHT), a joint initiative of EKTU and the Kazakh-German University (KGU), which will operate on the EKTU campus. In the future, this institute will become a center for international cooperation in science and technology, promoting the exchange of experiences and knowledge between the two countries.

“We need to focus on joint training for students in Kazakhstan’s industry, and KGU is specifically working to connect Kazakh universities with universities and research organizations in Germany. Now, EKTU will serve as a collaborative platform for the joint efforts of leading universities from Germany and Kazakhstan,” says Professor Wolrad Rommel, President of the Kazakh-German University.

A new dual degree program in “Metallurgy” for master’s students will also be introduced, developed by EKTU in partnership with Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus-Senftenberg. This program will offer students a unique opportunity to receive education from two leading technical universities in both countries.

“We have been collaborating with our colleagues from Germany in the fields of science and education for a long time. The Kazakhstan-German Institute of Science and Technology is a joint project with our partners, the technical universities of Germany. During the Week of Science, scientists from our countries will gather to discuss projects and developments in mining, metallurgy, innovative technologies, and sustainable development,” noted Saule Rakhmetullina, Rector of EKTU.
