At D. Serikbayev EKTU, students met with election process experts in an event dedicated to World Elections Day. This day is celebrated annually on the first Thursday of February to raise public awareness of democratic procedures and strengthen electoral culture among young people.
The speakers discussed key stages in the development of Kazakhstan's electoral system - from the first elections during the Soviet era to modern democratic processes. Particular attention was given to the principles of openness and transparency in elections, as well as the constitutional and legal foundations of the electoral process in the country.
- Elections are not just a voting procedure; they are an expression of civic responsibility. Young people play a key role in shaping the future of our country, and participating in elections is a way to influence this process, - emphasized the speakers.
During the meeting, students learned about the functioning of election commissions, the specifics of electoral legislation, and the importance of election monitoring by civil society. A particularly engaging topic was youth quotas in representative bodies, which open new opportunities for active young professionals.
The discussion also covered youth electoral activity and ways to enhance political literacy.
Speakers noted that today's youth must recognize their role in the country's political landscape, actively participate in elections, and make informed choices.
For EKTU students, such meetings and informative lectures are valuable for better understanding the political system and their place within it.
Participation in elections is not just a right - it is a responsibility to society, as every vote matters. It is a contribution to Kazakhstan's future.
