D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) served as the organizer and host institution of the III Satbayev Kazakhstan Geological Universiade, a large-scale educational event that brought together the country's best university and college students studying in the Geological Exploration of Mineral Deposits educational program.

The Universiade is held on the initiative of Satbayev University (Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K.I. Satbayev) and has become an important educational platform for training highly qualified professionals for Kazakhstan's geological industry. This year, EKTU named after D. Serikbayev took over the hosting baton and organized the practical stage of the competition at the Prostor Field Training Camp on the shore of the Bukhtarma Reservoir.

Over several days, participants completed field routes, conducted geological surveys, analyzed rock samples, and carried out professional tasks. The competition enabled them to demonstrate not only a strong theoretical background but also the practical skills and competencies required of modern geologists.

The significance of the event was underscored by the participation of government officials and leaders of Kazakhstan's leading technical universities. The closing ceremony was attended by Yerbol Nurgaliyev, Deputy Akim of East Kazakhstan Region, Meiram Begentayev, Rector of Satbayev University, and Gulzada Shakulikova, Rector of Safi Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas.

In his welcoming remarks, Yerbol Nurgaliyev emphasized that East Kazakhstan Region is one of the country's leading mining regions and noted that high-quality education for engineers and geologists is of strategic importance for the sustainable development of both the region and Kazakhstan as a whole.

Rector of Satbayev University Meiram Begentayev highlighted that the Geological Universiade has become an important tradition within Kazakhstan's engineering community. According to him, the project brings together talented young people, researchers, and industry representatives, contributing to the professional development of future geologists.

For her part, Gulzada Shakulikova praised the high level of organization demonstrated by EKTU named after D. Serikbayev and invited participants to attend the IV Satbayev Kazakhstan Geological Universiade, which will be held in Atyrau in 2027.

Based on the results of the intellectual and field stages of the competition, the winners were:1st place – Tourists team, Nazarbayev University,2nd place – Sulfides team, Satbayev University, 3rd place – Britons team, Kazakhstan-British Technical University.

Special attention was also given to supporting college students. Nikita Eisfeld, a student of the Geological Exploration College in Semey, received the Rector's Educational Grant from Satbayev University. Another student from the same college, Aidan Zhaksybek, was awarded the Rector's Educational Grant from D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University.

One of the highlights of the closing ceremony was the official handover of the Universiade flag to Safi Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas. Consequently, in 2027, Kazakhstan's oil capital, Atyrau, will host the IV Satbayev Kazakhstan Geological Universiade.

The successful organization of the III Satbayev Kazakhstan Geological Universiade once again demonstrated the strong potential of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University in advancing engineering education and strengthening cooperation between academia, science, and industry. By hosting major national educational events, the University continues to unite the professional community and make a significant contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists for Kazakhstan's geological and mining sectors.
