D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University and Allur Group of Companies are moving towards a new level of cooperation in engineering education, dual training, and the integration of research and development into industrial practice. One of the key steps will be the establishment of an Allur Isker Ecosystem Industry-Based Department at EKTU.

EKTU hosted a working meeting with representatives of Allur Group. The parties discussed training specialists for the automotive industry, aligning academic programmes with current industry needs, increasing local content in production, and implementing joint research and technology projects. Suresh Alapaty, a representative of Kyungsung University, Republic of Korea, also participated in the discussions.

During the visit, the Allur delegation explored EKTU’s research and educational infrastructure, including the Smart Engineering Competence Center, the Protective and Functional Coatings Research Center (Profcoat), and the Luban Workshop.

One of the main outcomes of the meeting was support for the initiative to establish the Allur Isker Industry-Based Department. It is expected to become a platform for continuous interaction between the university and industry, enabling greater involvement of industry professionals in student training, further development of dual education, and the integration of real industrial challenges into the learning process.

The partnership also has a strong research and technology component. The parties discussed opportunities for localizing the production of selected parts and components, expanding industrial cooperation, and conducting joint work in laser and spot welding, machining, and automotive painting technologies. EKTU’s research expertise and laboratory facilities are expected to contribute to solving specific engineering and technological challenges faced by Allur enterprises.

Digital technologies are another promising area of cooperation. EKTU presented a specialized Master’s programme focused on the development and application of artificial intelligence in transport systems and automotive engineering, as well as the Smart Steering Wheel project — an intelligent system designed to monitor the condition of both the driver and the vehicle in real time.

The next stage will include the development of a portfolio of Allur’s scientific, technical, and industrial challenges that can involve EKTU researchers, faculty members, and students. EKTU representatives are also expected to visit Allur production facilities in Saran and Kostanay to identify specific areas for further cooperation.

The establishment of the Allur Isker Industry-Based Department will strengthen university–industry integration, bring engineering education closer to the real needs of the automotive sector, and create new opportunities for joint research, technological development, and the training of highly qualified engineers.
