On April 29, 2025, as part of its official visit to Islamabad, the delegation of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) visited two of Pakistan’s leading higher education institutions — the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and COMSATS University.
The aim of the visit was to strengthen academic and scientific collaboration and to explore opportunities for joint educational and research projects.
National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST)
NUST is one of Pakistan’s premier universities, specializing in engineering and technological sciences. In 2025, NUST ranked 353rd in the QS World University Rankings and 127th globally in the “Engineering & Technology” category according to the QS Subject Rankings.
During the visit, the EKTU delegation held meetings with NUST’s leadership, including the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and the Director of the International Office.
The opportunities for joint research, student and faculty exchange, and participation in international grant programs were discussed. Particular attention was paid to issues of mutual recognition of qualifications.
COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI)
COMSATS is also among the top universities in Pakistan, ranking within the 711–720 band in the 2025 QS World University Rankings.
The EKTU delegation met with the COMSATS leadership, including the head of international relations and leading scientists. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation, as well as the possibility of holding joint scientific conferences and seminars. Issues of academic mobility and the implementation of joint research projects were also considered.
Visit Outcomes
The visit to NUST and COMSATS was an important step in the development of international cooperation between EKTU and leading universities in Pakistan. Preliminary agreements were reached on signing memorandums of understanding that will facilitate the implementation of joint educational and scientific initiatives.
The working visit of the EKTU delegation to Pakistan continues. In the coming days, meetings with representatives of other educational institutions and scientific organizations are planned, aimed at expanding international partnership and exchange of experience in the field of higher education and science.
