Project abstract

The trends of ethno-demographic, socio-economic and socio-cultural development of the Republic of Kazakhstan are determined by the processes of urbanization. Currently, the village and the city are connected by many socio-economic, socio-cultural threads. Cities incorporate both cultural, traditional and modernization components. It is ethnodemographic processes that will entail transformations in other spheres of society, socio-economic dynamics is largely a consequence of socio-cultural changes. A new urban space is being formed, which has no analogue in the Soviet period of history. The process is mostly due to dynamic social changes in Kazakhstani megacities, primarily in Astana and Almaty, which are centers of attraction for the population of all of Kazakhstan.

What are the trends in the development of the situation in the Kazakh province? What scenario is the formation of sovereign urban space here? Due to the prevailing regional specifics, a single algorithm most likely does not exist. A lot depends on the inertia of the historical heritage, the peculiarities of the employment structure of the urban population, the ethnically differentiated settlement system, the intensity of the migration flow from village to city.

 In a concentrated form, the situation is recorded in the regional centers of the republic, closely related to the local rural environment.

The purpose of the project

Determination of the trajectory of socio-demographic and socio-cultural transformation of the urban and suburban space of regional centers, modeling the prospects for their development using the example of the cities of Semey and Ust-Kamenogorsk.
