The team of D. Serikbayev EKTU, consisting of Leonid Izmailov, Vladislav Denisov, Dias Yerbolat and Sayat Zakerov, became the winner of the International Regional Hackathon “Green & Digital Solutions for Central Asia – 2026”, held on June 25–27, 2026, on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul in the Kyrgyz Republic. The event was organized by I. Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University, the International Telecommunication Union, and the regional project “Professional Green Skills for Central Asia” (PROGRESS), implemented by GIZ on behalf of the Government of Germany.
The hackathon brought together 122 teams from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Following the national selection rounds, only the 12 strongest teams advanced to the regional final, where they presented their innovative projects in the fields of sustainable development, green technologies and digital solutions.
The EKTU team successfully presented the project “Reusable TiC-Based Filters”, dedicated to the development of modern environmentally safe materials, and, according to the results of the expert evaluation, took 1st place.
The total prize fund of the Hackathon amounted to USD 5,000. For winning the final, the EKTU team was awarded the grand prize of USD 2,000.
This victory is the result of the high level of training of students and young scientists, their strong research potential and their commitment to creating innovative solutions that respond to today’s challenges in the field of sustainable development.
