From March 11 to 15, 2025, the House of Friendship - Center for Public Accord hosted the "Great Assembly Student Games," an event held in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan. Over the course of five days, students competed in sports and intellectual contests aimed at strengthening collaboration, building friendships, and enhancing competitiveness among youth.
Students from three universities and four colleges participated in the event: D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU), Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, the Kazakh-American Free University, Abai East Kazakhstan Humanitarian College, the East Kazakhstan College of Arts named after the Abdullin Brothers, the Kazakh-Korean College "Kwanson", and the Ust-Kamenogorsk Higher Medical College. Additionally, a team formed by youth representatives from the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan also joined the competition.
Youth are the most dynamic segment of society, and their interaction and mutual understanding play a critical role in shaping the country's future. In this regard, the "Great Assembly Student Games" served not only as a competitive platform but also as a meaningful opportunity to deepen cultural ties and forge new connections among students.
Throughout the week, male and female teams competed in various sports, including 25-meter freestyle swimming, volleyball, and futsal. Intellectual contests such as "Ethnogame" and "Ethnoquiz" tested participants' knowledge of Kazakhstan's history, culture, traditions, and ethnic diversity. The games focused on fostering intercultural communication, strengthening teamwork, and promoting a healthy lifestyle among youth.
EKTU's Student Assembly members took an active part in the event, demonstrating both their knowledge and athletic abilities. The women's volleyball team secured second place, while the university's teams performed impressively in the intellectual competitions as well.
The "Great Assembly Student Games," which combined sports, knowledge, culture, and cooperation, officially opened on March 11 and concluded with a closing ceremony on March 15. The best teams and individual winners were awarded medals, certificates, commemorative gifts, and trophies.
This unique initiative provided a valuable platform for youth development, fostering new friendships, and revealing the participants' full potential. Events like this help strengthen national unity and stability, boost youth civic engagement, and enhance their role in society. For every student, participation in the Games was an enriching and memorable experience.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the students who represented EKTU and proudly upheld the university's honor as part of the Student Assembly!
