Representatives of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) are taking part in a working week organized by the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) as part of the international Erasmus+ CBHE project "Curriculum Development in Circular Economy and Sustainable Development in Central Asian Universities" (CirculEC).

The event is being held at the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of USC with the participation of 11 universities from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. The training session aims to enhance undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs by integrating principles of circular economy and sustainable development.

The opening ceremony took place on March 25, 2025. The participants were welcomed by Professor Gumersindo Feijoo, Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation and Innovation of the University of Santiago de Compostela, and Adrián Dios, Vice Dean for Student Affairs and International Relations.

Throughout the intensive program, participants are engaged in a series of theoretical and practical seminars focused on strengthening competencies in sustainable development. The educational process includes field visits organized in collaboration with leading circular economy enterprises in Santiago de Compostela. Among them are TEIMAS, a company specializing in innovative digital solutions for waste management and circular economy, and ARROUPA, a social enterprise involved in textile reuse, which has been offering services in textile collection, sorting, and sales since 2015, contributing to the social integration of vulnerable groups.

EKTU's participation in the CirculEC project contributes to the modernization of academic curricula, the development of sustainable professional skills among students, and the strengthening of academic collaboration with leading European universities.
